Unissued Belgian Star of David

This Belgian Star of David is in unused condition and has a J on the front.

From 27 May 1942 it was compulsory in Belgium for Jews aged 6 or older to wear the Star of David.
The design of the star was designed in such a way that it could be worn in Flanders and in French-speaking Wallonia.
The J on the front stood for ‘Jew’ or Juif’.
The distribution of these Stars of David was carried out by the Association of Jews in Belgium, also known as the Jewish Council.
